JOB LOCATION: In-Office based in Bratislava, SlovakiaHabitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking to recruit an ambitious Assistant Accountant to provide support to the financial department by managing daily accounting tasks and assist in providing support and oversight to Habitat-branded entities in Europe. You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the organization's finances.The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles and able to work comfortably with numbers and attention to detail.The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department and help the company be fully aware of its financial condition. This way it can make the right decisions and accomplish long term success.WHAT WOULD BE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES?
- Prepare financial transactions related to offices in Bratislava, Nairobi and project expenditures - ensure proper coding and approvals;
- Verify supporting documentation, ensure reconciliation with approved contracts;
- Maintain an effective filing system for financial transactions;
- Review and process travel & expense reports, follow up on employee advances;
- Process necessary journal entries in the UNIT4 ERP (system for managing the core finance processes)
- Prepare/review payment requests for transactions processed through the HQ;
- Set up payments for automated bank transfers
- Becoming a power-user in the UNIT4 ERP supporting multiple entities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa
- Assist with providing support and oversight of Habitat-branded entities in Europe
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
- 0 – 3 Years of Related Experience
- Good understanding of financial and accounting concepts, standards and associated regulatory issues
- Fluent/advanced English skills
- Fluency in Slovak is not a requirement but willingness to learn Slovak language is more than welcomed
- Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Good analytical and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and determination to meet deadlines
- Honesty and strong ethics are required to be successful in this position
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated capacity and willingness to learn – open to learning new ways of doing things
