As a TechOps Engineer you will be a key player in managing and optimizing our technical operations. Your expertise in Linux, Chef, VMware, and knowledge of operating systems upgrades, especially from CentOS to Rocky Linux, will be crucial in ensuring the seamless performance and reliability of our infrastructure. You will work closely with our development and operations teams to design, implement, and maintain our systems, ensuring they meet our high standards of efficiency and security.Responsibilities:

System Administration: Administer, configure, and troubleshoot Linux servers in a VMware virtualized environment. Ensure systems are running efficiently and securely.
Automation and Configuration: Utilize Chef for automation and configuration management to streamline and standardize our system setups and deployments.
Operating System Upgrades: Lead the migration projects from CentOS to Rocky Linux, including planning, execution, and post-migration support. Ensure minimal downtime and maintain system integrity during transitions.
Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to enhance reliability and speed. Utilize monitoring tools to preemptively address potential issues.
Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain security policies and procedures to safeguard our infrastructure. Regularly audit systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation on system configurations, procedures, and changes. Prepare reports on system status, incidents, and upgrades.

Must-Have Skills:

Linux Expertise: Extensive experience with Linux server administration, including a deep understanding of the Linux command line and system internals.
Chef Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with Chef for configuration management and automation. Ability to write and manage Chef recipes and cookbooks.
VMware Experience: Strong background in managing and configuring VMware environments, including VM provisioning, configuration, and optimization.
Operating Systems Upgrade Knowledge: Specific experience in upgrading operating systems, particularly migrating from CentOS to Rocky Linux. Familiarity with the challenges and best practices for such migrations.
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues under pressure.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

Experience with other configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).
Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Location: Kosice / remoteSalary: From 2800 EUR/month, depending on skills and experience + benefits.
