Habitat for Humanity seeks an intern with exceptional communication skills and a career interest in international development, digital marketing, or communications to help build brand awareness and mobilize resources for a variety of programs around the globe. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker, a fast learner, and possesses a passion for storytelling.This is a paid opportunity. As a Communications Intern, you will support the Global Communications team in the Europe and Middle East Area Office and interact with colleagues worldwide (USA, Asia, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America) assisting with a variety of projects, activities, and support functions. We are rather looking for a motivated learner than skilled professional.What would be your responsibilities?As a Communications Intern you will provide support to the Global Communications team in the EMEA Area Office:
- Social Media
- Brainstorm and write short-form and long-form content for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn on a variety of topics related to housing
- Utilize Hootsuite to track social media analytics and monitor performance
- Assist with developing and executing a social media strategy for Europe and Middle East regional social media accounts
- Stay abreast of current events and developments in the industry
- Website Management
- Assist in creating and managing web pages, add/ edit content, and upload/ remove files using Drupal CMS for website
- Utilizing google analytics, gather data, compile analytics, and help provide key insights on website communications and promotions
- Publications
- With guidance from the senior members, draft and edit engaging content for EME channels, including monthly e-newsletters, ad hoc action alerts, and the website
- Other tasks
- Easy design work (Canva) as well as more complex design tasks in Adobe Creative Cloud apps, prior experience is an advantage but not a requirement
- Support with logistics and organization of events and meetings
- Administrative tasks, support to project reporting processes
- Desk research
- Full-time university student with an interest in work in an International non-governmental organization in the development sector
- Fluency in English is a must. Knowledge of Slovak or other European language is an advantage
- Very good computer skills - Microsoft, prior experience with website management and social management tools is an advantage but not a requirement
- Demonstrated interest in communications, social media, and/or related fields
- Creativity, unconventional thinking
- Good interpersonal, communication and writing skills
- Ability to work independently
- Interest in a long-term internship in international environment with focus on international development
- Willingness to learn

Job description, responsibilities and duties
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI)´s Europe and the Middle East (EME) Resource and Development (RD) team is exploring the potential of funding from family foundations* and small corporate foundations based across the region. This research internship role would be tasked with assessing the potential of such a funding stream through a scan of the number of foundations with a geographic and thematic match to Habitat's work and calculating the approximate value of funding from such organizations. The research should also include an assessment of what skills and languages might be necessary for the eventual team member who would be managing this new funding stream. A preliminary list of research questions will be provided to support the intern in completing this task.While this is a primarily desk-based research task, some phone calls - conducted via Teams platform - will be necessary.The outcomes of this research project will enable Habitat to better understand the funding landscape and assess what staffing investments should be made to further increase our fundraising capacity. This will allow us to continue to raise more funds to serve families most at need.*Private family foundations are private foundations set up, funded and governed by families who make grants from their charitable endowments.The expected length of this internship is 3 months with a possibility of extension upon need for support with another project.Responsibilities/Duties:
- Desk-based and Teams call research of family and small corporate foundations from across the EME region
- Creation of a detailed matrix to explain the funding size, thematic and geographic focus, plus other relevant details of each organization.
- Presentation of results to EME RD team with an initial assessment of the funding potential from the organizations researched.
