Job description, responsibilities and duties
Habitat for Humanity Area Office for Europe and Middle East (HFHI EME) is seeking a dedicated team member to join its Finance department – focusing on Europe and the Middle East (EME) & Africa (AFR) region. We are looking for a new colleague to serve as a Finance Senior Specialist, who will be responsible for the project financial management and donor reporting of grants implemented by Nadacia HFHI.This position will be based in Bratislava, Slovakia, with travels up to 25% internationally and is open to citizens, residents and those with the ability to work in this country. The work arrangement for this position is hybrid, and on flexible time schedule. The hiring range for this position is 32,555€ – 38,300€.WHAT WOULD BE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES?
  • Contribute to the initial budget set up to ensure all relevant items are included at the correct values
  • Throughout the implementation monitor the budget vs. actuals status and propose revisions as needed
  • Set up financial systems for grant reporting
  • Prepare accounting entries including adjustments related to grants
  • Perform ongoing financial monitoring during project implementation
  • Collect, review, and consolidate partners' financial reports
  • Draft financial reports to donors as per specific donor requirements
  • Prepare periodic and ad-hoc project financial reports for the management and other stakeholders
  • Ensure all relevant financial support documentation is filed and retained in a systematic manner and readily available
  • Participate in and represent Nadacia HFHI during the project kick-off and close-out meetings
  • Act as a resource person for interpretation of donor financial rules and requirements,
  • Support post-implementation audits
  • Make recommendations leading to project implementation improvements related to financial management.

WHAT DO WE REQUIRE?To thrive as a Finance Senior Specialist, you have:
  • University education: Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting/audit
  • 5+ years of previous experience of development/humanitarian work, or related work
  • 3+ years of experience in project financial management
  • Accounting proficiency
  • Experience dealing with institutional and other complex donors (EU etc.)
  • Strong analytical thinking and excellent problem - solving skills
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience in preparing accurate financial reports
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time internationally
