JUDr. Eleonóra Marišová, PhD.Workplace: Institute of Law, FESRD SUA NitraField of study: Economics and ManagementStudy programme: Integrated Rural DevelopmentForm of Study: full - timeAbstract:In the Slovak Republic, the local government (municipalities) are responsible for managing municipal waste generated on the territory of municipalities, and the state administration (Ministry of the Environment and its subordinated institutions, especially district offices) iare responsible for managing waste management. All entities in Slovakia must gradually increase the level of waste sorting, thus supporting the circular economy, as the circular economy focuses on the elimination of waste through the closing loops of the economy. Among the important waste management documents in the Slovak Republic are the Environmental Strategy 2030 and other strategies, especially the Waste Management Program and the Waste Prevention Program, which the Slovak Republic developed in accordance with Directive 2008/98/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 November 2008 on waste and on the repeal of certain directives (framework directive). Slovak Waste Act No. 79/2015 Coll. has been amended up to 33 times since its effectiveness on 1/1/2015, while implementing EU legislation, in particular Directive (EU) 2018/851 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2018, which amends Directive 2008/98/EC on waste. The aim of the dissertation thesis will be the evaluation of the cooperation of public administration bodies in the waste sector, the efficiency of the collection and separation of municipal waste, its recycling, the circular economy process in the regions of Slovakia and a comparison with the regions of selected EU states. We will focus mainly on restaurant, kitchen, textile and construction waste, which according to Slovak legislation must be excluded from landfill and ensure its recycling. The evaluation will be carried out by quantitative methods (statistically demonstrable differences between the level of municipal waste sorting in the investigated regions) obtained values of collected waste from the databases of the Slovak Statistical Office and Eurostat in the evaluated period, as well as qualitative methods (guided interviews with representatives of producer responsibility organizations, as well as the possibilities of implementation of best practices from the regions of selected EU states. The result of the dissertation will be well-founded conclusions and proposals for the sustainable management of restaurant, kitchen, textile and construction waste in Slovakia.Funding:The dissertation is a continuation of the currently solved project APVV 20-0076 Waste and construction - modeling the effectiveness of alternative cooperation options of administrative authorities (1.7.2021-30.6.2024).More information about PhD position:Additional admin information:Addditional research information:RequirementsResearch Field Economics Education Level Master Degree or equivalentLanguages ENGLISH Level GoodAdditional InformationWebsite for additional job detailsWork Location(s)Number of offers available 1 Company/Institute Institute of Law, FESRD SUA Nitra Country Slovakia City Nitra Postal Code 949 76 Street Trieda Andreja Hlinku 2 GeofieldWhere to apply E-mailkristina.mandalova@uniag.skContact State/ProvinceSlovakia CityNitra WebsiteStreetTrieda Andreja Hlinku 2 Postal Code949 76STATUS: EXPIRED
