For more information, visit .Under the general direction of Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, this position provides support to and serves to the attorneys and paralegals for the Legal Department, including the IP team by managing administrative and operational functions, including docketing, law firm billing, invoice processing, and fee agreement tracking. This role ensures the smooth functioning of legal operations and supports compliance with internal financial and legal policies.At Adient, we are proud to offer hybrid working to our employees, which involves being able to work remotely for up to 3 days per week based on the agreement within specific department.What will your responsibilities be?
  • Management of law firm invoices when outside of Adient’s billing guidelines.
  • Coordinate with external counsel to manage invoices, fee arrangements, matter budgets, and rate agreements using an e-billing platform.
  • Generate reports on legal spending and activity.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to ensure timely payment and reconciliation. Experience with SAP or a similar database is preferred.
  • Maintain and update patent and trademark docketing systems to track invention disclosures, deadlines, filings, and legal matters.
  • Process patent annuity for review and payment.
  • Generate purchase order and pay invoices outside of legal e-billing software.
  • Assist with special and/or strategic projects.
  • Provide other support and perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
Which qualifications are we looking for in potential employees?
  • At least 5 years of experience in legal administration or support with a major law firm or corporate law department.
  • University degree is preferred.
  • Fluet oral and written communication skills in English are required.
  • Familiarity with web-based technology or other law firm software, such as e-billing software (CounselLink®, Serengeti, Tymetrix), legal docketing software, virtual data room (Intralinks, Merrill), document management system (iManage®), and/or entity management software, is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and analytical.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task, be flexible, and be able to prioritize and complete projects effectively and efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products such as WORD, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with third party vendors, including outside legal counsel.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
