How can you make a difference?Assist in developing, implementing, co-ordinating and monitoring an advocacy and communication strategy and associated products and activities on on-going basis with public audiences, UN and civil society partners, and key private and public sector donors, with the objective of promoting awareness, understanding, support and respect for children's and women's rights, and support for UNICEF’s mission, priorities and programmes in the country and at regional and global level. Support in the coordination of Situation Reports, development of donor proposals and reports and ensure effective communication on UNICEF results to key public and private sector partners, including donor recognition.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES and DUTIES & TASKS1. Communication strategy: The production of digital content, communication products and materials are timely executed and followed up to support the country, regional and global communication strategy, regional and global campaigns and priorities to get children's issues into the public domain, strengthen political will in support of UNICEF’s mission and objectives, and enhance the organization's credibility and brand.2. Media relations: Effective and timely professional assistance and support are provided in developing, drafting and maintaining contact information, materials and relationships with journalists and media outlets covering all media - print, TV, radio, web etc. - in the country, to communicate the story of UNICEF’s cooperation to a wider audience.3. Monitoring and evaluation: Regular monitoring and evaluation activities are undertaken according to the work plan to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of country communication efforts. Results and reports are prepared and shared on a timely basis.4. Donor Reporting & Resource mobilization support: Inputs to regular Situation Reports, donor proposals and reports and other knowledge products are effectively coordinated and quality-assured and global and regional level fund-raising activities are supported by effective programme information, advocacy and communication activities.5. Networking and Partnerships: Identify and work with key influencers in the country to support the Office in achieving its communication and advocacy objectives, including maintain and develop contact list of individuals, groups, organizations and fora (including Government, UN, and bilateral counterparts) and support the organisation of public events.6. Capacity building and support: The Country Coordinator and the emergency response team are provided with professional expertise and advice on all aspects of external relations communication as required.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS1. EducationUniversity degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.2. Work ExperienceTwo years practical professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media.International and national work experience (for IP). Field work experience (for NO)Background/familiarity with Emergency situations.3. Language Proficiency [ I ]Fluency in English is required. International Professional (IP) staff on fixed-term, continuing or permanent contract will be able to take up this appointment as a temporary assignment, retaining their fixed-term entitlements. The conditions, including the possibility of a lien on the post, will depend on the status of their post and their tour of duty, and installation entitlements will be limited to those applicable for a short assignment of less than one year.

Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions. Appointments may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID). Government employees that are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government before taking up an assignment with UNICEF.
