You will lead on a discrete policy portfolio, currently climate/environment, education, gender, and culture however the focus can shift depending on changing priorities. You will also provide administrative support to the team including as Personal Assistant to the Deputy Head of Mission (approx. 25% of the role).You will work with an experienced team who will help you develop expertise in your lead areas and will support you to work independently and proactively.Roles and responsibilities
  • Undertake analysis and research in your policy areas and in support of the wider political team;
  • Build and maintain a network of contacts in your policy areas;
  • Lead on coordinating visits of UK officials to Slovakia (occasionally out of hours), ensuring that briefing is accurate, and that the logistics of the visit are well managed;
  • Support the delivery of Embassy projects and events;
  • Act as Personal Assistant to Deputy Head of Mission, including occasional leave cover for Personal Assistant to Head of Mission
  • Provide administrative support to the Embassy Political Section as required
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
  • University graduate;
  • Ideally, an understanding of the Slovak government structure and its functions, and an interest in politics and international relations;
  • Team oriented approach and a proven ability to work flexibly, collaboratively and under pressure with a range of colleagues and stakeholders;
  • Willingness to undertake a variety of tasks, excellent organisational skills, self-motivated and proactive
  • Good problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills;
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and Outlook;
  • Language: Fluency in English and Slovak, including excellent written English and verbal communication skills;
